November 2012 - Island Teacher

Happy (Cayman) Thanksgiving!

Apparently, I'm not so hot at keeping an updated blog since it has been well over a month since my last post. Life has been busy, busy! We've finally moved into our apartment. We live in a nice little row of townhomes in an area called Snug Harbour that is made up of mainly expats. We are super close to work for E and our new place is convenient to really anywhere we want to go. We have a nice pool and we're right next to a park/playground/tennis area. There are several other families with young children, so AG has had fun getting to know people already.

So this week is Thanksgiving take 2, as we celebrate Caymanian Thanksgiving. We had a fun school-wide lunch today and I ate just as much as I did last Thursday for the American celebration. We welcomed our first island visitor last week! My mom spent Thanksgiving with us and we all had a great time.

Work is still going well for both of us. E is getting busy as "season" is now beginning. AG and I have settled in nicely at school. It's hard to believe that Christmas is coming as it never really "feels" like Christmas here. Cayman does do a GREAT job with holiday events though and we are looking forward to the next month! There are lights everywhere and this weekend is the Parade of Lights where boats get all decked out in decorations and "parade" through the harbour. AG and I will also be attending our first tea at the Ritz when we go to Teddy Bear Tea in a couple of weekends. :)

We will have a packed schedule of visitors from the end of December to mid February as we will play hosts to my parents, sister, brother-in-law, baby B and then E's parents.

Thank you all so much for keeping up with us and for your prayers. Please continue to specifically pray for E's car to sell. :)
